SonglessAnswers at a glance
Data coverage & metric definitions
Tracking started 2026-03-30. As of October 31, 2026 the archive covers 102 recorded puzzle days — 306 category answers (All, Rock, Hip Hop), 270 unique songs and 207 artists with a recorded appearance (we also keep 230 artist pages, including artists with no appearance yet). Coverage is not continuous before tracking began: we record only days we can verify, so a missing date means we have no record for it — not that the puzzle had no answer.
- Puzzle day = one date with three category answers (All, Rock, Hip Hop).
- Category answers = one song per category per recorded day, so 3 × 102 = 306 entries.
- Unique songs = distinct title+artist pairs; a song that appears twice counts once here (270).
- Artists = 207 distinct artists have at least one recorded appearance; the site also maintains 230 artist pages in total, including zero-appearance pages.
- Practice pool = 0 tracks with playable official previews, drawn from past daily puzzles (a separate pool from the answer archive).
- Chart pool = 4,700 additional chart tracks used only for practice variety.
What we built (and why)
Songless launched in mid-2026 and exploded through Twitch streamers and YouTube Shorts. Within weeks, players were searching for "songless answers today" — but every existing site was thin: one page with today's answer, no archive, no artist data, no way to practice.
We set out to build the reference site we wished existed:
- Daily answers for all three puzzles — published within minutes of the midnight Eastern Time reset
- A spoiler-safe hint ladder — release year, artist's first letter, genre, title's first letter
- A permanent archive — every past day has its own page
- Artist tracker pages — every artist who has ever appeared, with dated records
- Song pages with 30-second previews — hear the actual answer songs
- Genre trackers — from hip hop to anime, plus decade × genre pages
- A practice mode — replay real daily-puzzle songs with the same 0.1-second ladder
How we get the answers
Every answer is verified against the official daily puzzle at lessgames.com/songless. Our automated pipeline runs daily after the reset, cross-checking official puzzle data with community trackers. Song metadata is enriched from the iTunes Search API.
What makes us different
- Depth over speed. Full archive with artist histories, genre breakdowns, and a practice mode.
- Machine-readable data. Our API and archive JSON let AI assistants access verified answers programmatically.
- Zero-BS policy. No popups, no signups, no paywalls.
- AI-friendly by design. Structured so ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity can cite us directly.
Our verification process
Every answer goes through a two-step verification before publication:
- Step 1 — Official data extraction: our pipeline fetches the official puzzle data from lessgames.com/songless within minutes of the daily reset.
- Step 2 — Cross-source validation: the extracted answer is cross-checked against at least one independent community tracker. If the two sources disagree on the date or the answer, we don't publish — accuracy over speed.
- Metadata enrichment: song details (release year, genre, album) are sourced from the iTunes Search API, the same data that powers the Apple Music catalogue.
Corrections: if you spot an error, email us the date and category. We verify against the official puzzle and update within 24 hours. Revisions land directly in the machine-readable archive — each entry carries its recorded date.
